Sarah Steinhardt

Sarah Steinhardt earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree with distinction in 2003 from the Purdue University College of Pharmacy in West Lafayette, Indiana.
While at Purdue, she completed her Pharm.D. project by performing a pharmacy compounding experiment in simulated microgravity conditions at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas.
After graduation, she practiced retail pharmacy for more than six years combined at a Wal-Mart in Kokomo and Walgreens in both Crawfordsville and Rensselaer, Indiana, and enrolled in the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law, where she obtained her J.D. in 2009 with a concentration in health law.
While in law school, she served as a note development editor for the Indiana Health Law Review, was named to the Order of the Barristers in the Robert H. Stanton Intramural Moot Court Competition, and was selected as an associate justice for the Moot Court Board.
She then completed a PGY2 pharmacy management residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and obtained a Master of Science in Pharmacy Administration. During her residency, she gained experience in pharmacy and clinical operations, hospital staffing, medication safety, and leadership, as well as obtaining a Mastery of Teaching certification.
In 2011, she was selected to be the ACCP/ASHP/VCU Congressional Healthcare Policy Fellow. Initially, she worked within the government affairs divisions of ACCP and ASHP before obtaining placement in the United States Senate in the personal office of Senator Ron Wyden, where she enjoyed working with the senator and staff on a portfolio of drug crime and judiciary issues.
Since completing the healthcare policy fellowship, she served as an assistant professor at the University of South Florida in Tampa, teaching the Jurisprudence course and an elective on Drugs of Abuse, Addiction, & Law Enforcement. She was voted P3 Teacher of the Year for 2014-2015.
