Rita (Habib) Livadas
2015-16 Fellow
Rita Livadas earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2013 from Rutgers University at the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy. During that time, she interned at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, developing an interest in health system pharmacy. She was also involved in several policy and advocacy efforts on local, state, and federal levels and served as the regional delegate for the American Pharmacists Association’s Academy of Student Pharmacists in addition to being president of the Phi Lambda Sigma chapter at Rutgers.
Upon graduation, she moved to Pittsburgh to pursue a PGY1/PGY2 Health System Pharmacy Administration residency with Allegheny General Hospital, part of the Allegheny Health Network. During that time, she also completed a Master of Public Health at the University of Pittsburgh. The residency program provided her with the opportunity develop leadership and pharmacy management skills in information technology, finance, business strategy, medication safety and clinical program development.
In September and October of 2015 she completed the association component of the fellowship with ASHP and ACCP. In November, she began her placement with the office of Sen. Michael F. Bennet from Colorado, who sits on the Senate Finance; Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions; as well as Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry committees. During her time with Senator Bennet, she worked on legislation that was included in the Senate Biomedical Innovation Package as well as priorities in the Senate Finance Committee Bipartisan Chronic Care Working Group.
After completing her healthcare policy fellowship, she served as director of Global Public Health at Becton, Dickinson and Co.
