Joshua Paul Lorenz

Joshua Lorenz earned his Doctor of Pharmacy and Master of Business Administration degrees at Butler University in Indianapolis. Upon graduation, he was selected as a PGY1 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Practice Resident at The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy. He worked on an interdisciplinary team to help manage chronic diseases for patients at the Columbus Neighborhood Health Center, a group of federally qualified health centers with a multicultural population.
As the fourth Congressional Healthcare Policy Fellow, Lorenz obtained placement in the U.S. Senate Committee for Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions under ranking member Senator Enzi. His work included involvement with multiple divisions within HHS, including the FDA, CMS and the NIH. In addition to working during the beginning of implementation of the Affordable Care Act, Lorenz's legislative portfolio involved drug shortages (FDA Safety and Innovation Act), user fees for generic pharmaceutical manufacturers (GDUFA), and Medicare Part D updates. He also currently sits on the Ohio Pharmacist Association Legal and Regulatory Committee.
Since completing the healthcare policy fellowship, he has served as a clinical assistant professor at the James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy at the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati. Prior to his position at the University of Cincinnati, he moved from Washington, D.C., to Cincinnati, after being hired as Assurex Health's first Medical Science Liaison. During his time at Assurex Health, he educated hundreds of physicians and nurse practitioners about genomics and pharmacogenomics and how to utilize genetic information in everyday clinical practice to improve the lives of patients. In addition to clinical pharmacogenomics, his areas of interest also include chronic disease management, digital health and health outcomes.
